Overview

An input shaft is connected to a 16 tooth spur gear and it will be meshed downwards with a 64 tooth spur gear, creating a gear ratio of 4:1. That said 64 teeth spur gear is connected to another 16 teeth spur gear via a shaft. The shaft will be fixed to both gears, rotating them at the same rate. The 16 teeth spur gear will then be meshed upwards with another 64 teeth spur gear, resulting in another gear ratio of 4:1. Therefore, completing the reduction with the system has a total reduction of 16:1. The output shaft is connected with the final 16 teeth spur gear, translating the reduced rotational motion. The system will resemble a U-shape from the top down perspective.
